Vlog - it's not just for breakfast.

i've been wanting to do more video blogging - or 'vlogging' as some call it, but since the last vlog I uploaded was a YEAR and a HALF ago I suppose it hasn't been near the top of my to-do list. So when my iPhone app launched last week (and it features my YouTube videos on it) I felt a renewed sense of excitement in getting my video on.  I'm hoping to be making a bunch of "how to" videos along the way as well.

For my friends who are hearing impaired I apologize for not having figured out how to close caption my videos yet. I promise that I will continue to try to find that technology, and until then rest assured that the vlog won't be replacing the blog. I didn't wake up this morning thinking I would say the word "vlog" so much today.  Anywho....

Love the video and I can't wait to for how-to's! May I be the first to request a sock how-to? I recently caught an episode of Knit & Crochet Now where you were demonstrating crochet socks! I bought some sock yarn and a book but am so lost! The heel is being a heel!

The picture is much clearer with the new equipment, and no pauses for buffering. Excellent!

I really like the vlog Drew. Can't wait to see what else you have in the works for the future. Question...any tips on teaching a 7 yr old how to crochet? Should I just teach the chain stitch? Thxs and wishing you continued success.

      Thanks for the kudos!

I'm very insistent that absolute beginners begin with a project their first time out - it instills so much confidence and avoids the level of frustration that could cause the learner to quite altogether. We love results!!

I suggest that you get some nice, smooth, worsted weight yarn and start a "coaster" by working several rows of 10 sc across, then on the next row do the first 2 sc, THEN give the coaster to the learner and guide him/her through the steps of making sc.  Let them practice on that piece and when there are 10 rows finished they will have a coaster.

Now here's the most important part. Use the coaster! It reinforces that the learner just created something useful on his/her very first try.

Anywho, good luck and I hope you both have much success!  I learned when i was 5 and so many of my childhood memories include crocheting gifts, crocheting with family members, etc.
