Alaska Crochet Cruise
Somehow I managed to survive the 7 day Alaska bound Crochet Cruise. It was tough I tell ya. What with all the food, luxury, good company and crochet that went on. Of course there was the view too.

Then we cruised on to Juneau where I took a truly amazing tour that included not only a hike to see the glacier there, but also a boat ride out into the bay to see wildlife. There were whales, sea lions, eagles, you name it. This is me posing with the tour guide that I found out I was old enough to be her father. I decided not to try and deal with that this year. Maybe next year. My therapy bill is already too high for 2010.

I came back to my room at one point and discovered this little dude waiting for me. He was great company, didn't bark much, kind of like a cat really.

Oh and by the way, this was the actual view from that very class. I didn't catch it but not long after I took this photo baby whales started jumping out of the water:

We started out in Vancouver at the port called Canada Place. Oh Canada, you are so pretty:

During our week-long cruise through Alaska we went into a glacier bay and got to park next to this glacier for a while. It was amazing, quiet except for the "white thunder" of the ice cracking. Just beautiful.

And of course there was the crochet. Each day we were at sea we had class in the morning and afternoon. So. Much. Fun. The group was wonderful, eager to learn, full of creativity and I think we all learned a lot from each other. Here is one of the freeform classes that I was teaching.

Dear Drew,
Do you have any crochet patterns which would look good on a scarf? I'd like to try to crochet a scarf which would be simple to make, but would
have a nice stitch pattern. Sadly, I can't find one available! HELP!
Yours,
Kenneth from Kansas
