Austin in a nutshell

Okay, Austin is having a very hot summer.  So i do NOT recommend leaving one's toiletries in one's car as one teaches an all day workshop there this summer.  Everything either melts or explodes.  Sometimes both.  I'm just saying is all.

I did have a wonderful time there this past weekend.  It's such an easy drive from Houston to Austin and I took a route that the GPS recommended (new to me route) and it turned out to be very pretty and faster than I had expected.  Hooray!

Saturday morning at The Knitting Nest I got to see my good friend Staci (of Very Pink fame) who once was a part of my Thursday morning 99 cent breakfast Ikea stitching group.  Good times!  Now she's teaching the knit lessons at The Knitting Nest!

The classes were both a lot of fun and new friends even stopped in just to say "hello" and get an autograph! How cool is that?!

During the Calvarium Skullcap class (from Designs for Guys) I made one for the shop to keep. I used a super chunky yarn with a size Q hook and it took me about 15 minutes!

The yarnshop itself is very nice: bright, inviting, comfortable, well-stock. The wall of Cascade 220 is a force to be reckoned with! You could crochet for years just off that wall and never run out!!

And I fell in love with the doggy who comes to work with the owner Stacy.  His name is Hank. Get it? Hank?  I wonder how Cleo & Chandler would feel about a new little brother?

And for me one of the highlights was to meet Dolores in person! She has been hanging out in The Knitting Nest since Franklin's last visit. I always knew my mom (named Dolores) would be reincarnated eventually, but didn't realize she'd come back as a knitting sheep. Go figure!

Stacy the owner of The Knitting Nest said she would love to have me come back when it's cooler out! Hooray! Stay tuned for details!

Until then you can see when my next workshops will be here: The Crochet Dude's Workshop Schedule
