King of San Antonio

After the crochet cruise to the southern Caribbean what this dude needed was a weekend away!  Seriously.  So I packed up the car Friday and headed to San Antonio.  This is one of my favorite destinations in Texas, and although for me it's a bit too far for just a day trip, it is still close enough to be worth driving just for the weekend.

I love spending time along the Riverwalk, which I call Tex-Mex-Venice, with all the cafes, and shops and history:

And this was the view from my hotel balcony:

This is the cathedral at sunrise, not too far from the Alamo. I won't say if I was just waking up or just headed to bed.... but how could I resist popping in to the church to see the Mariachi Mass?

Even the King of San Antonio was there!

I had the chance to be in San Antonio for a few hours one day long ago.

I did manage to get to the riverwalk, but only for a few minutes, so I'm really glad to see the pictures and get a taste of what I missed.

I did get the chance to see the Alamo, though.

It's a city that has a lot of charm. I'm so glad you could go, and that you could share it in pictures.

    Thanks!

Fiesta!! My San Antonion friends had me down for Fiesta twice. Oh, how I wish I was there now. Warm and sunny compared to the cool grey rain of Chicago.

If you can, you should go to Guenther House for breakfast. Totally worth the wait.

Thanks for the pictures! I'm really homesick for San Antonio this week -- this is the first time in almost 25 years I haven't been there for Fiesta. And to that a gray, dreary, later-than-usual (they say) Spring here in Iowa, and sunny San Antonio seems even better than usual!

It really is very beautiful. There's no map near by at the moment but I'm guessing this is near the Mexican border? My bloodline runs from one of the countries of the carrib and such a place as shown in your pics calls to my soul. A quick visit would never do. I'd probably stay forever!

Thanks for sharing. A nice treat.
