I came back for the cats
I got back from the crochet cruise yesterday and I will admit that the kitties are the reason I did. I mean, c'mon, why would you want to leave this?

This is the actual beach in the Bahamas called Half Moon Cay where the ship dropped us off for the day. It's a private island owned by Holland America and since we were the only ship there we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Amazing!! And I took all these photos with a little cheap point and shoot. If you use your imagination you can pretend that it was even more beautiful than this.

After the Bahamas we had a day at sea and that translated into a day of crochet for everyone! It was great!!! The students were just amazing and we worked on a lace beach cover up project in the morning. In the afternoon the students rotated around as some of them were going to Annie Modesitt's class and my group and I talked about how to maximize variegated and self-striping yarns. So. Much. Fun.
(Photo disclaimer: lots of people took photos from lots of angles and promised to share, so as soon as I have some of the photos from the classes, etc, I will be sure to do a follow up post!)
Anywho... Day 3 found us in Aruba. I had two choices, go to another amazing white sandy beach with turquoise waters, or go to the town for shopping, exploring, eating, etc....

Then immediately the next day we were in beautiful Curacao, you know, the home of that blue liquer that blue moon ice cream tastes like? This is the view from the ship which shows the dutch influence on the culture and architecture:

And of course I couldn't be in a wonderful outdoor cafe in Curacao without trying a taste of their most famous export! Lekker!

Moving on from Curacao we had two more wonderful days at sea where we crocheted the days away, not too shabby on a ship like this:

On Friday the students made a beaded clutch purse and I was so happy that everyone finished in time to take their purse to dinner that night! How fun is that?! And on Saturday the students worked on the Frill Seeker top where they learned to do crochet ribbing, crochet cables and a combination ribbing-ruffle! Thanks once again to the lovely people of Universal Yarn Co. all the yarn was provided for these projects! Hooray!!
It's always good to be home but let me tells ya, I could have stayed a few days longer!! If you'd like to join me on the next cruise we are putting together click for more information:

Hi Drew.
I just purchased your Ming Tree skirt pattern. It's such a beautiful design -- I can't wait to get started on it.
I am your friend dancinglawn on Ravelry.

I am glad you had a wonderful time Drew. You deserved it and I will be on one of those trips in the future - I KNOW it !! I know the kitties are glad you are back home - but I bet they gave you the cold shouldar for a moment or two. Mine always do that. It has been a while since I had some Curacao. I'll have to bring out some tonight to sip.
Hugs from Toronto......S>

Dude,
I linked to your site via Annie's blog. Pics are incredible. I WAS going to ask what camera you use until I read the "Point and click" line. Drat. My daughter needs a new camera and I was hoping you could wow me with some recommendation. Well, keep pointing and clicking because those pictures are incredible. Peace.

I wanted to go on the cruise, but lack of money and the weird cruise ship phobia that I have (afraid of getting the Norovirus...no...not the yarn Noro, but the sick-to-the-tummy norovirus) But, I also get sea sick really easily, so I'd probably never know which it is...
It does look like it was a lot of fun. I'd love to go do something and crochet and knit my way thru a vacation like that.
