Potentially Gratuitous
These are not truly gratuitous cat photos, honest! These clearly illustrate a very real problem in my world. You see, whenever I get up to go to the boompah, or just get more coffee (mmm...coffee...) 99% of the time I return to my project, and very often just within under a minute, to this:

This is a serious problem folks. And the only solution that I have found that works is to start working on a different project, get up to get more coffee and come back to their sleeping on THAT one. Mwahahaaa, then I can get back to work on the original project. See how I used reverse catpsychology on them? See how much I need to get out of my studio interact with humans sooner than later?

I obviously have a small dog who thinks he's a cat. Same deal over here. Love the new projects!!

WHAT???? You mean you're NOT crocheting for them? Oh dear! Well, your projects are beautiful, your cats are gorgeous. But, if you have sunk to the level of trying to reason with cats, then yes, you need to get out and mingle a bit. I hear your LYS is a perfect place to go.

My cat likes to "hold down" my yarn when I crochet or knit. You are not alone.

Have you tried the jingle bell trick? My kitty is obsessed with jingle bells... I throw one down the kitchen, she gets up and chases it, and I snatch my project back!

I feel you pain, with 6 furbabies, I have the same problem. One of them, Smokey, will actually chew through my 100% wool or anything that is sparkly, think Patons Brilliant.
Love the designs by the way and look forward to seeing them wherever you have them.

I have a calico cat named Hope that looks like your cat in the picture and I deal with the same behavior. When I get back to the sofa, she insists on sitting right next to me with one paw on my leg. I have no solution at this point, although once in a while a water bottle will show up

Is this a case of the following definition?
Human being (n): Dog's master, cat's servant
*ducks and runs for cover*

I think the kitties need to learn to crochet, Drew. Then they could earn their keep!

I have a small dog (min pin) who loves to scoot his belly across anything I'm knitting. I'd rather that he just quietly curled up on it and took a nap! I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your segments on Knit and Crochet Today. I don't crochet, but might have to start because of you!!

Well maybe they're trying to say "where's my blankie?"

Give up, Drew. It all belongs to them.

Hi Drew,
I have the same problem. Two little beasties always wanting to eat the yarn, sit on top of my work while it's in my lap, etc. I have to hide yarn and any projects while I'm at work or I come home to a mess. Beautiful kitties! Keep on crocheting!

Oh, but such beautiful furbabies! You know that they NEED your wonderful projects to sleep on, they just DO.

Cats are so languid and delish its enough to make a person meow, stretch and curl up on that inviting blankie. My only question is this: are kitties color blind like dogs are supposed to be? I mean, really, how can anyone say such a thing about the Dude's beauties? Does anyone else see how they lie upon thee color which complement their lovely complexions?
Enjoy your day peeps,
Pam Murphy

I've been trained to pick up my work and move it some place safe now due to my cats and dogs, or at least I try to remember to do that. Otherwise, I'm mean. I pick the cats up and move them to a different cushy spot.

We have two cats, but they don't bother my crocheting. My dogs take care of that! Two minpins who love to curl up under any afghan, scarf, or other projects I have on the hook. God bless their little hearts!
Congratulations on your book!

I think this crochet design and cat are really cute.

I saved my sanity by purchasing some Ziplock Big Bags in the XL and XXL sizes. You can simply place your project in the bag, zip it up and walk away without worrying about kitty hair on everything.

Consider yourself lucky, Drew. My cat settles herself onto my knitting and crocheting while I'm still working on it! I think of it as her contribution to the project - a little cat fur = a little more love.

My mom is 83 years old and loves to crochet. She has caught glimpses of Bret's crochet rings on the program. She has made some of her own versions, she saw one that looked like a rose, it was light in color. Do you happen to have the pattern or able to get it so that I may download it for her.
Thanks
