First Robyn of the Season
When I was a kid in Michigan right around springtime there was always a sudden burst of hope that spring (and warm weather, and sun, and anything NOT grey like or flowers outside) when someone spotted the first robin. It was always the best day since Christmas.
Houston doesn't have grey weather, or snow, or cold, (don't get me started about the hurricanes) but we are all very excited that there will be a Robyn in town this weekend! Crochet designer extraordinaire Robyn Chachula (author of the amazing new book Blueprint Crochet: Modern Designs for the Visual Crocheter
) will be here to teach some classes and do a booksigning! There is an obvious buzz of excitement in the Texas fiber air in anticipation!! Get more information at Yarntopia's website (I believe there may be a seat or two left in her classes so be sure to check them out!)

Halloween Treats
I've gotten so many emails asking for the recipe to my spooky eyeball recipe that I'm just going to go ahead and show you a photo and give you the direct link. They are yummy, and make fantastic halloween hors d'oeuvres!

Mockolate
Here is a crochet project that I just finished last night *coughneedtoweaveintheendscough* using one of Louet's new yarns. It's a mock turtleneck shell that I'm calling Mockolate.

Extra credit if you know the show that that name came from, and bonus points if you know the episode number!

Well the show was Friends, but I don't know the episode number. This looks like a top I would love to wear to work under a jacket!

I love the little cat head detail. Nice touch

The cat is from the Andrew Lloyd Webbber's musical Cats isn't he/she? O right, you were talking about Mockolate

Bloodshot eyeballs and maggots. eeeuuwww! Is it yucky or yummy? LOL LOL!
I have to cover my eyes when we drive by swished roadkill! When maggots crawl out of the garbage he has to save my butt and clean'um up! I'm a bit squeamish, don't 'cha know. And is that a brain in the center? My post teens would love it if I made this!!! The Dude never ceases to amaze with his creative genius! Thanks, man. (Only a man...!) grin.

Seeing Robins in Houston is when I know winter is here! It used to be the opposite up north, like you say, and it still sometimes causes me to feel seasonally mixed up!
