Nothing to see here

Nope, nothing to see here folks, keep moving please.  There is NOT a Category 3 hurricane named Ike heading right for Houston this weekend:

La la la la

You see, I have to go to Portland in a few days to teach a class and emcee the fashion shows at the fall Knit and Crochet Show there and, well, I don't believe that there could possibly be a storm headed toward my house!

A little denial goes a long way here in Dudeland.

Anywho...

Delft Supplies

I have heard rumblings throughout Internetland (which is distinct from Dudeland, although sometimes they blend) that Delft Blue, the required color to make Special Olympic Scarves is temporarily selling out everywhere.

Woooohoooo!!

That means that a lot of people are participating and we just might make our goal of 5,000 scarves by January!  Rock on, everyone!  This is fantastic.

And I'm sure shelves will be restocked soon so stay tuned!!

Back in Dudeland

I'm packing and getting ready for my trip to Portland, Oregon, and I promise you I am NOT thinking about Hurricane Ike!

2+2=chicken

Shesh, whats up with all the hurricanes this year, anyway? Its enough to make a Dude RUN to the mountains and never look back.

Well, how cool is that. You, personally, all by your little ol' self, has caused a stampede for delft blue supersaver. The internet has a lot of scary, creepy stuff but also so much good and its great folks like yourself who show how its done right. That's just me.

Well, we are glad to see Ike far from Houston! This has been a busy hurricane season! Keep safe.

Well dammit Drew, looks like Ike is turning a baleful eye toward Houston. Do you have a person who keeps an eye on your furry little roomies? I know we all are hoping your place will be spared any damage. Keeping you in our prayers.

First of all, hope your house and home are safe in the onslaught of Ike. I got lots of friends working because of him.

Second, I just thought I'd let you know that Joann.com has the Red Heart Super Saver Delft Blue in stock.

Third, heard a few interviews in Podcasts recently and am so glad I found your site. I'm looking forward to reading more...

    Cheers!

Good Afternoon folks. Looks like Ike is slamming Houston as we speak. I know we all hope Drew's home will miss the worst of it. If he hasn't made it home before yesterday he probably won't be able to get into that part of Texas for a while. If he did, well the thought of that scares me! The news is busting at the seams with it all. Stay safe Dude!! Looking forward to hearing all is well for ya.

Hope your house is not in a low-lying area. Looks like most of the flooding is starting to or has gone down, and Harris county had much less damage than it could have experienced.

Have been watching the coverage on KHOU (over the satellite)...reminds me a lot of Alicia, which I rode out in my home in Deer Park back in '83.

Hi, just a quick stop to check in on ya. We had some strong wind here yesterday in western WV, nothing serious. May all be well with your home and with Cleocatra and Chandler. Cleocatra! That is sooo excellent!
Let us know how you are fairing.

From my admittedly limited knowledge of where (approximately) Drew's house is or may be located, I think it is likely he does not yet have power restored. I hope that the lack of power is the only damage that incured.

Yes. You are right, we don't know where his home is exactly but we do know his city was hit full on. I also hope, as you, that power outage is all!! Can't help but worry though, what, with all that talent, "yarn", house & home in jeopardy! He must be home by now, just wondering around in the dark, cooking over campfires, drawing water from the local fire hydrant, you know, generally living like the classic pioneer. Drew do you have a candle or two so you can at least crochet by firelight? But, in all seriousness, we all want you safe and sound!

You all have a good day.

Just a quick question. Where do you get those great maps you post? Maybe someone knows this? I'm sure The Dude will be far to busy for quite some time to respond to one goofy question! But they, the maps that is, are so cool.

    Enjoy your day people.

I think I recognize that picture from Weather Underground (http://wunderground.com)

Great site for weather information. I live in part of the area that got power back on Tuesday, which was about 3 days sooner than I estimated we'd get it back. I'm going to hijack Drew's site here and ask that his readers contribute to either the Red Cross, or to the:

      HOUSTON IKE RELIEF FUND
      C/O Greater Houston Community Foundation
4550 Post Oak Place, Suite 100
      Houston, TX 77027

There are a lot of people who are living week to week for their paychecks and for the last week...no work.. so no pay.

I thank you in advance for your help and support.

Hey! I have a friend who just moved to Houston (He was in Mississippi for Katrina too, he's bad luck!) and he said he just got his power back on a few days ago, so it will come back!

Just wanted to share some love and hope all is well there!
