Decadence, thy name is fiber

I spent the day after Professional Development Day enjoying some down time and then having lunch with friends that I hadn't seen in a while, and the next events for me were that evening.  The design award ceremony was lots of fun and the winners of the design contest were well-deserving.  I don't know how a judge could go through so many incredible entries and come up with winners, but she did and the grand prize winner was an incredible thread wedding dress.  Amazing!!

After the awards ceremony came one of my favorite events of the Knit and Crochet Show: the market preview!  This is two-hour period that the market is open to ticket holders and you get to shop without the crazy crowds!  And shop I did, and after careful perusing of the market I kept coming back to the booth that sold these hanks of pure joy:

Creme Brulee

Here are the stats:

Decadent Fibers
Creme Brulee - worsted weight - 50% merino - 30% silk - 20% mohair
490 yds per hank - 4 hanks given new home
Potential project: small throw for the guest bedroom

Book Update

Rumor has it that I'm going to be receiving jpegs of all the projects in Designs for Guys so I get to show you more of what is in the book!  I'm very excited - it feels like it's been forever since it went to press and I'm chomping at the bit to show you how I spent last year!

Mmmmm... Creme Brulee... One of my favorite desserts. It makes a lovely looking yarn as well. It was really so great to meet you in the flesh and I'm looking forward to working with you.

Welcome back Jeanne!  I ate at Z's last year but it was so rainy this year I ate in the hotel the entire week.  Fortunately the food at the Radisson is fantastic!

It was so great going to the convention and all the yarn I got was sock yarn...and samples....Oh the samples...The wedding dress was great and I can't wait to see previews from your book. I'm looking for some self striping yarn to make the socks from Men who Knit. Hopefully I can find some masculine colors for my hunny. Have a great week!

I have used Trexxx for socks and love the colors, and the skeins are large enough to make man-sized sox easily.

I'm glad you had a great time at the convention!

That is some kind of luscious yarn! I just couldn't bring myself to buy yarn...I wanted a Grafton Fibers hook and was sad they were there this year.

I tried very hard to resist this yarn, but it was indeed futile.   I love the Grafton hooks too!!

Indeed, but it's just a really good rain maker at this point.  A lot of offices and services are closed down just be safe, and yes we are watching flooding, but as far as tropical events go Houston (and the surrounding areas) got off pretty easy.

And we did need the rain desperately.
