Frank Lloyd Wright Inspired
When the yarn company gave me free reign to design an afghan and after seeing the colors that they wanted it in, I immediately thought of the arts & crafts movement of the last century, specifically Frank Lloyd Wright. So I did some research into the architecture that he designed and was especially inspired by his stained glass windows. Here is my version as a crocheted afghan:

The yarn company then placed the design in the March/April 2008 issue of Creative Home Arts Club Magazine - Click here:
a note about comments: There seems to be an issue with the security code to leave a comment. For now until I get some tech support just keep trying and eventually it will let you leave one. oye. sorry about that because you know how much I love comments!

Wonderful! I love both the colors and the stained glass effect.

Drew, this is fantastic! Being the math geek that I am, I really love symmetry and geometric figures. And I've always been a Frank Lloyd Wright fan. Awesome job!

Oooh! I like it even better laid out. The pics in the magazine did not do it justice. I had pulled the pattern out anyway 'cause I liked what I saw, but this makes it so much prettier! It's now moved up a bit on my to-do list.

Love this ghan Drew - very good for a manly ghan. Not to mention the straight lines appeal to the Virgo in me who likes order

Drew, this is one of the best looking afghan patterns I have ever seen! I love the way you used the colors and textures of the yarn, and the stitches worked around the post (I am seeing that correctly, right?) are genius. What a terrific design!! My husband and I are FLW fans, so this afghan is going on my project list. Bravo!

I love the color & style balance. How long did it take you to design it to where you knew what stitches to use where?

Really neat ideas and colors! I'm inspired to get the crochet needles out - Did you ever see old needles made of bone? I came across one in an old piece of furniture that i bought and was quite impressed with how pretty it was made.

I love prairie style/craftsman, and I LOVE this! It's so clean and not fussy, but it has that look about it like prairie style, that makes you want to stop and just think about it.

Awesome afghan!!! Have you ever been to Fallingwater here is SW PA? I live close by and have visited there. If you are ever in the Pittsburgh area, you have to take a drive to see Mr. Wright's creation; it too is awesome. Love your blog, Rose

Drew, this afghan is beyond gorgeous. Never in my wildest dreams would I believe that the arts and crafts movement architectural style could be so beautifully captured in the fiber arts. Your creativity and sense of style is impeccable. I am in AWE of this project. To say nicely done is an understatement.
