The A/C Needs a VayCay!

Seriously, why didn't someone tell me that it was so freakin' hot in Texas before I moved here?  Just kidding, I knew it before I made the move.  This week has been unusually hot though and my poor air conditioner (aka, the electric bill) needed a break so I have my computer at a local Starbucks where I figured I would let them pay for the coolness.  It's so cold here I even got a hankerin' for some coffee.  Me?  Coffee?  Surely I jest...

Yesterday afternoon I realized that if I didn't water the yard soon that everything would be giving up the ghost.  I keep thinking that it's going to rain and since it hasn't in about a week and the temps have been in the 100's the ground under the grass is on the verge of cracking.  So I get the sprinkler going full force, come back inside, and can you see where this is going?  Yep, it started raining!  But it only rained for about five minutes which was just enough to raise the humididity levels to 120% and make it unbearable outside which meant I couldn't bring myself to fire up the grill and ended up having tuna salad for dinner.

Oot and Aboot

This is the first time I've taken a day in The Crochet Dude out of my studio to work and it's kinda fun!  I brought along only computer related work items since I wasn't sure how long I would stay, etc, and lawdy knows I have lots of non-fiber things to get caught up on.  I'm still amazed at how little I get to crochet or knit anymore.  This running an empire is time-consuming!!  I invited S t a c i to meet me here but she hasn't shown up.  She says she wants to make friends with the Texas weather; what better way than to get out and come to Starbucks!

Photo Drought

Sorry there aren't more photos!  It seems that the Wifi service here in the land of the 3-D people has deemed Photobucket as inappropriate and will not let me access it.  And just when I was going to blog about the funniest thing that I've seen all year.

Knitstitchers Unite!

Thanks for all the offers to stitch for me!  I have transferred your names and email addy's to my database and will contact you sometime soon!

Stay cool....

Hot and humid here in Cleveland, too. Plus thunderstorms loud enough to send cats running under the bed. Afraid to open my electric bill. Proud to be added to your stitchery database. Did I mention that I both knit and crochet?

Texas is very hot. The humidity there is amazingly different than it is here in Kansas. I made a visit to my home town (just north of Dallas) last week, and we decided to make a trip to Six Flags. Stupid me lost track of time and forgot to eat or drink and ended up in the cool a/c of the infirmary...LOL. Stupid me? Hmm, no, actually it was smart considering I got to sit in the air conditioning with my mom and daughter until 4ish that afternoon. I'm back home now, but geez, I really can't wait for Autumn! Stay cool!

I should know by now not to eat or drink anything while I read your blog: it always tends to get sent up into my nasal cavaties in the middle of a snorting laugh.

"Oot and aboot" did just that, while giving me a flashback of my Dutch grandpa's dialect.

Thanks for the flashback, and not so much for the nasal burn.

The weather in Houston this weekend was super sucky. Even the squirrels in my neighborhood were just laying around! Drew, please add me to your list of stitchers. I don't knit, but I do crochet. And I'm right here in town, so could pick up and drop off locally.

We are back from a very long hot trip north and it was very hot everywhere we went. Hotter in Texas with the humidty though.
We had to get a new AC. I hope you can get yours repaired. The new ones are pricey! So good luck with that.
I am glad you are getting help with the knitting. But keep those fingers limber as I am sure you will be designing some more goodies for us. Winter is coming I hope and a sweater pattern would be great.
    Keep cool!

Trust me, if you're in Houston, you know this weekend was not a good weekend to leave the house. Our car read 106 out there... so, if they don't live in Texas, they don't know.

Oh that reminds me, I need to add a few extra minutes to the sprinkler for some of my shrubs. They are getting crisp on the edges. We hit 108 degrees today.
