Progress, thy name is slow...

I'm working and working and working and sleeping a little bit too, but the progress, it seems so slow!  This little project that I is in the snapshot below isn't that big, is in worsted weight yarn, and using a fairly large hook, yet no matter how much I sit here and work on it it doesn't seem to be getting any bigger.  Magic!  Gnomes! Time-travel! Go Drew go, go Drew go!

MacDrew

Thank you to everyone that commented and emailed me about their Mac experiences.  It has definitely eased my fears quite a bit!  I see that Apple is coming out with a new OS called Leopard and I'll probably wait for that before diving in (or is that my PC-trained mind getting the best of me?).  It's good to know that all y'all are having such a great MacExperience!!  (And for those of you who offered help and services, I may just take you up on it when the time comes!  Thank you for offering!!)

The Latest

What has been very productive over the last 24 hours is this carolina jasmine that is in my courtyard.  Seems like overnight it has gone into full bloom mode and wow does it smell fantastic!  I opened all the windows around the courtyard and it's filling the house with the most amazing scent!  Dontcha love nature?  So much nicer than Lysol...

The irony of course is that as soon as it is done blooming I'm hacking it almost all the way to the ground, digging it up and moving it another place in the yard.  It just overwhelms the place where it is growing, gets under shingles,  wraps around the roof gutter, etc.  It needs a place where it can grow and grow (something it's VERY good at) and blossom as much as  it wants happily ever after.

Lysol for a while had an apple scented version and I loved it.  It made the house smell clean and fresh all the time.  Now I use the crisp linen scent.  It's not as noticable as the apple, but fresh just the same.

I was interested in a Mac a while back and had few friends with one. They suggested a store in Houston where you can take try them out and they also offered classes. It might be worth seeing if there is still a store offering all this good stuff.

I'm waiting for Leopard to get my MacBook. I used to have a Mac... and I miss it. I'm tired of my PC locking up for no reason, and not working right and blah blah blah.... they do sell programs that will let you run Windows Programs on your Mac if that is an issue.

And I am jealous of your Jasmine. We are getting ice/snow/ick on Friday... and all I see out my window is bare trees and dirty snow.

Oh good, I thought I was just being pcparanoid about the new OS.  I don't really use much more than Word and Photoshop in my work, so I think running that stuff on a Mac would work perfectly.  My main concern has been my home PC and my Mac being able to run on the same router and share printers.  Sounds like I have a month or two to figure it all out!

Very nice Jasmine - and yes, much better than Lysol!

Now, I'm curious...just how big a hoot are you using for that project? And do you have to alternate with a fairly large holler?

LOL - oh Tami.  It's taken me all this time figure out what the heck you were hootin and hollerin about!  I finally saw the type-OH to which you were referring and corrected it.

I save my hootin' and hollerin' for the weekend!

Yes, leopard is going to be a nice update on the Mac OS. Since it is only a month or so away, I would say to go ahead and wait (as Apple does not do free upgrades on anything). I also plan on updating my MBP once the new OS is shipped...and I cannot wait for the new Adobe suite (CS3)

On the theme that Tami up there started, what are shingles in graps? Are they good to have? I'm sorry, but I really wouldn't ask if I could figure it out...What are shingles, something like roof tiles (I think they are also a form of skin allergy, right?). I'm off to Google.

Shingles are roof tiles and "graps" was a type-OH.  LOL - I'm good at those if under enough stress!

Sorry about the confusion.  The jasmine vines actually grab the roof gutter (that sheds the water away to a downspout) and it is very hard to cut away the new growth.  It will be better for the plant (and my sanity) if I move it to a spot where it can grow all it wants!

As a sack knitter I know what you mean by small projects taking too long to actually finish. I feel your pain!

Jasmine is my absolutely most favoritest scent in the whole wide world. Hand down.

Once you go MAC, you never go BACK.

    Seriously.

    You'll love it.

Drew, I can't name a MAC virus. I don't pay money to secure my computer. I don't have virus definitions. I don't even own spyware, adware, or anything of the kind. It's just not necessary. No dreaded blue screens. No multimedia software compatability issues or software competing against one another. Programs don't just shut down on you in the middle of working!

You'll love it. And this is coming from someone who was born with a computer at her side and used one up until 3 years ago. The transition was easyyyy.

Oh, what a beautifully blooming garden you have there, Drew! Here in Finland the land is still covered with snow and the sea with ice and even the bravest migrating birds have haven't come to their nesting areas yet.
But I'm sure you'll fininsh the project in time, Drew - as always! Take heart!

I'm a mac-head from back in the 1980s, so I'm a bit biased--but I'd say, unless it's just to save the cost of upgrading to the new OS, there's no reason to wait for Leopard--the current OS is just great, and even runs windoze!
