If Today Were Last Monday I'd Be Golden

So last night after dinner I realized that this project (below) needed to be done.  As in, whoops, that needed to be done perhaps yesterday-ish?  So I whipped out my hook, hunkered down with a fire in the fireplace (seriously Houston, 34 degrees?  I refuse to get used to it) and whipped up this project:

Speaking of Recording Devices

I finally broke down and bought a recording device yesterday what with the pending trainwreck show being broadcast tomorrow.  The show itself will be amazing I know!  Pam did such a great job demonstrating the seagrass cowboy hat, and Amie has amazing comments and insights.  They had to tell me "Drew, look interested in what's going on", and when I did what I thought was my "I'm very interested in what's going on" face, it made everyone behind the monitors laugh.  Out loud.  I hope they edit out whatever face I made.  I don't think I'll be sleeping tonight.  (Watch on Friday - HGTV. Uncommon Threads.  11:30 am eastern/10:30am central.)

Cave Men Don't Get Fat

Since returning from TNNA I've proven that the sandwich diet doesn't lead to weight loss.  Even if you mix it up with sliced ham, salt free turkey, or grilled peanut butter, it just doesn't help get those jeans on.  So after a couple of loaves of bread I've decided to try a new strategy: The Cave Man Diet.

Now, it's something I'm just making up as I go so I'll have to give reports on the results later.  Essentially I'm going to eat only stuff that I think my body knows what to do with.  I'm pretty sure it's not able to handle stuff like high fructose corn syrup or sodium stearoyl lactylate (?)  both of which are ingredients in my favorite bread.  Instead of artificial sweetener I'm switching to organic local honey.  Instead of the bread I mentioned I'm going to whip out my bread maker and make my own.  Instead of the meat that contains up to 15% of a meat solution (and trust me, you do NOT want to Google that term and see what it means.  Seriously, it freaked me out man!) I'm going to eat organic buffalo (because they can't be genetically modified yet, right?  I suppose they could be cloned.  I'm seriously moving to Alaska and living off the land.)

Stay tuned.  I'm only 40 pounds away from wearing a loin cloth.

If you can't tell what it came from, don't eat it.

And if it was 34 in Houston last night, y'all were a heckuva lot warmer than we were in San Antonio. My whole car was glassed over with ice. But it's perfect crocheting weather, yes?

A crocheted loincloth? That could be HOT!
The caveman diet could work if you were out on the tundra, chasing down the buffalo to make a sandwich. Right? Am I missing something? Do you have tundra in Houston?
    Bwahahahaha
I have my VCR set up. Looking forward to the show.

I am all excited about watching the show. I will be looking at the faces you made! I am recording it so I can watch it the second time to make sure.

You are on the right track with the cave man way to eat! Forget the bread and potatoes too.
Your project looks luscious with all the pretty fibers. Great work!

    Hi Drew,
Your golden fibre there is beautiful! Looks pretty and thick! The caveman diet sounds good. My late grandma(who took amazing care of herself and was never overweight) would walk after every meal, even if it was only a block. I myself need to put this into practice.

Loincloth, eh? Maybe, since you're eating the buffalo, you could make your loincloth out of some of that buffalo yarn. The Native Americans used every part of the buffalo, ya know.

don't move to Alaska! I swear there's something in the water that makes you FAT (unless your Norwegian). Maybe it's the 8 month sunless hibernation period... anyway, here's my favorite diet article: http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/7habits.htm

    Hey Drew,

Somewhen in the 1970's or so Dr. Vaughn M. Bryant of Texas A&M University actually wrote a book called the Caveman Diet. He was even in People magazine...pictured wearing a polyester cave man outfit and munching on something rootish...

He actually did the diet and lost about 50 lbs. I remember him coming to our backyard and collecting grapeseeds (mustang) and pollen to compare to what he was observing in errrrr ancient poop.

I babysat for the family as he and his wife were good friends with my parents.

Good luck......and we'll be watching for the loincloth pattern....

Drew, you may want to check out the book "Neanderthin: Eat Like a Caveman to Achieve a Lean, Strong, Healthy Body".

    Amazon Link: http://www.amazon.com/Neanderthin-Caveman-Achieve-Strong-Healthy/dp/0312975910

You are onto something here. I hope it works out for you.

Oh and that's why my honey and I eat organic Buffalo instead of beef. We also stick with the free range chicken when we do eat chicken. The crazy shit the gov is allowing to happen with "food" is just mind blowing. Ick. o.0

So this loin cloth? Is that a reward once you are a trim little package? ;^)

Wow, Drew in a loincloth - that might make a good author photo for your next crochet book. That would be a unique crochet pattern too. I don't think I've ever seen a loincloth pattern. You rock!
